Tajikistan is a developing country located in Central Asia. It is presidential/parliament republic. With 93% out of its 143100 km2 covered by chain of high mountains it is bordering with Afghanistan, China, Kygyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Public Fund CIPI with Cluster Bureau of UNESCOto Almaty across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and Tajik branch of Institute " Open Society " - the Fund of Assistance has lead the Eurasian conference " Development (FOSS) in the Central Asia ".

More than fifty software developers based on (FOSS), representatives international  organizations of development, experts in the field of it is information communication technologies from the Central Asia, India and Afghanistan have met to Dushanbe, Tajikistan from July, 6 till July, 7th 2007 for development of national strategy of development in the Central Asia.

Software products of UNESCO, practice of their application, localization and the international standards have been presented. Portals of the free software: UNESCO, SourceForge.net and others. Opportunities and prospects of creation in the countries of the Central Asia of national trade marks based on FOSS have been studied. Conferences has brought the contribution to increase of awareness and potential in the field of free ON for development and that is the most important, initialization of development of national strategy for use FOSS in the Central Asia.
